Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by objects that have a long history of being handled, though I am particularly drawn to antique paper because of its tarnished beauty and fragility. The paper  becomes a source of inspiration for me, acting as a conduit to imagined people, places and histories, which I embellish and record with ink onto these antique rarities. My drawing is a form of storytelling with line, weight, dots and texture translating the images in my head for the page. The resulting narratives are a cross pollination of these imaginings and my day-to-day life, a mash-up of surreal characters, human-animal hybrids, religious iconography and everyday objects that inhabit my life and mind.
